The pH scale is the measure of a solution’s acidity or alkalinity, with the neutral point at pH 7. Your pH solution should always be in the range of 5.5 to 6.2 to allow plants access to nutrients at the correct ratio.

The pH scale is logarithmic, so each unit of measure represents the change in acidity to a factor of 10.  This means that a reading of pH 5 is 10 times more acidic than a pH reading of 6 and 100 times more than pH 7.

How to use the water pH test kit

• Half fill the supplied test tube with a small sample of your nutrient solution
• Introduce a few drops of pH indicator solution to the sample - and the solution will change colour. 
• Compare the resulting colour to the chart provided – so you can see the pH of the solution
• pH solution should always be in the range of 5.5 to 6.2 to allow plants access to nutrients at the correct ratio.
• Adjust the pH of your nutrient solution up or down accordingly
